Homily to prepare for the feast of the Sacred Heart

The Hebrew word Anawim is translated in English as "poor". These are the ones who are not only economically poor and relegated to the margins of society, they are not only the ones who the world has pushed into a corner and (often) deliberately, they are not only the ones who do not have the basics of food, clothing and shelter, but are also the ones who acknowledge their total dependence on God. They do this because no one else cares.
God cares for these poor and challenges us to respond to God's invitation to reach out to them. Are we willing to rise to that challenge?
