Tuesday, December 3, 2013 - St. Francis Xavier SJ

Xavier the Jesuit
At first Francis was totally opposed to Ignatius’ way of life and thought. But when he saw the light and was won over to God by St. Ignatius, he dedicated himself whole-heartedly to the cause of the Reign of God and what is now known as the Jesuit Way of Proceeding. His intimacy with and dedication to Jesus could make him pray:
O, my God I love thee
Not because I hope for heaven thereby
Nor because they who love thee not
Must perish eternally
Thou, O Jesus, thou didst me
Upon the cross embrace
For me didst bear the nails and spear
And manifold disgrace…….

LET US PRAY: Lord God, our Father, we rejoice in the memory of the loving and lovable St. Francis Xavier, remembering the favours with which you blessed him during his life and his glory after death. Help us to be good Christians conforming to Jesus’ Way of Proceeding, and of thinking with the Church. This we ask for your love’s sake. Amen.
